Ranges throughout the coast. Migrates to Natal in summer and to Cape in winter (Ref. 4332). Stocks declining; vulnerable; harvested by all forms of recreational angling (Ref. 4332). Classified as a protected species; minimum legal size is 70 cm TL (Ref. 12484). Angling record: 32.2 kg; spearfishing record: 31.2 kg (Ref. 12484). Also Ref. 3397, 27121.
